Episode Synopsis: Moving day into a college dorm, NYC. Laila begins her vlog when she realizes that her luggage has disappeared. She bribes a student passerby to film her college experiences for the “rest of her college career”. After gleefully meeting her first-ever roommate, Jade, Laila receives some bad news from her father over the phone.
Series Synopsis: Laila Pearson moves to New York City from a home-schooled, sheltered, and wealthy life. On the first day she arrives, she loses her luggage, meets her roommate who hates her and learns that her father lost the family fortune and they now have no money. However, this bad news doesn’t break Laila’s spirit; it ignites her fire for “the struggle” even more. Throughout the season, we follow Laila as she vlogs her major “firsts”: first roommate, first gay best friend, first day of class, job hunt, college party, hangover, love, and more. We see how Laila takes on the world with her positivity, and how her fearlessness drives her to challenge authority—even the Immigration department of the NYPD.
