The short movie Mens Sana in Corpore Sano is loosely inspired by the philosopher Epicurus’ theory of clinamen. The spontaneity with which atoms, during their straight and vertical descent, diverge and bump into other atoms…
Maria’s atoms, that on that day are protruded to meet a simple but miraculous fruit: the plum.
It is an encounter that the woman perceives as a gift that can materially affect her and make her feel good as never before.
Perhaps even the atoms of the plum, in this vast Universe, oblige to a vitalism in which life desires itself.
The rediscovered form in the body is dialectically connected to the form of the mind, because the two things are not actually separated, so that in the last panoramic framing, that slowly moves away on the notes of the polyphonic overture of Verdi’s Attila, we can see the breath of freedom, while on the screen it appears the writing: mens sana in corpore sano.
